Cannot change or disable iCloud email forward

I am having trouble changing the iCloud email forwarding function. I have changed the destination email address and even unchecked the "Forward my email to" checkbox. But neither made any difference. I keep getting forwarded emails from my old email address.


Does anyone have a similar issue? Is there any workaround to share?

Just to confirm, did you create a custom domain or use the Hide My Email feature in iCloud?

You mentioned that this was happening on your iPhone, what iOS do you have installed? You can check for any updates that need to be installed by going to Settings > General > Software Updates.

Welcome to Apple Support Communities. You would like to forward your iCloud.com emails to another inbox. Right?


If so, it sounds like you may be on the right track so far. Check out Automatically forward email in Mail on iCloud.com - Apple Support to make sure you are taking the right steps.


You may also be trying to forward emails from a different address to iCloud. If that is the case, you will need to do that from your email provider's settings. We hope that helps!

Thanks for the reply. My iCloud account was set up to forward emails to my Gmail account. It worked. My problem is that I cannot stop the email forwarding (or changing it to forward to another email address).


I have unselected the checkbox and changed a different email address, no matter what I did, all my iCould emails still got forwarded to my old Gmail account. It is really annoying.

No, I do not have these features enabled. They are available for iCloud+, I only have the basic iCloud.


I just checked I do not have any rules or filters set up for my account.


The weirdest thing is that all my emails still go to the old email address even though I have changed the forwarding destination address to a new email. For some reason, my account always remembers my old email address.

Thanks for the help. I do not have any email client running in my computer, I am only accessing emails from my iPhone, so I do not believe these emails are forwarded by any email client. It must be handled by Apple servers. All the changes I made were on the iCloud online portal.


It just so weird that my old email address will always receive the forwarded emails no matter what email addresses I have put in the "Forward my email to" field, and the checkbox seems having no effect at all.

Just to report back. Today the email forwarding function suddenly works properly. My old email address has not received any email from the iCloud account, and all the emails went to the new email account.


Except for changing the authentication phone number, I have not made any changes to my account during the last 24 hours. Not sure whether this makes any difference.
