Indexing messages

Why won’t my phone stop saying my phone is indexing when I search for old conversations or try and look at message attachments? I’ve have tried so many ways of trouble shooting I just want my old conversations and attachments! Please help.

Hey shailyn_10,


Do you have Messages in iCloud enabled in Settings > [your name] > iCloud > Messages. If it is, your messages are synced to iCloud so that you have access to them on all devices that is signed with the same Apple ID.


If you do have it on, connect your device to a Wi-Fi network and also connect to power source. Hope that helps.
