Why can’t I see my recent emails
I’m trying to play a game that needs my email verification but, I check my email and nothing is there then realized that my emails are days old and none of them are recent

This definitely sound like unexpected behavior. Is this happening in the Mail app? What happens if you check the website for your email provider, do you see your latest emails there? If you're not receiving anything on the email providers website, then you may want to reach out to them directly and see what might be going on. However, if everything looks good on the website then the issue may be specifically isolated to your iPhone.
