Driver for HP C4480 printer that works with Monterey

Upgrade to Monterey resulted in perfectly good HP C4480 printer becoming useless. Cannot find a driver that works. HP its usual unhelpful self. Has anyone solved this?

Hi,

The drivers from HP for the HP Photosmart C4480 All-in-One Printer appear to be for very old Mac OS X versions. Instead, you may want to check whether the HP 5.1.1 Printer Software Update package from Apple could be used with your computer and operating system. Look upon this as an experiment. It may or may not work. It is true that the system requirements indicate that macOS 12 is not compatible, but there have been reports about other printers working with this package anyway. Something like the HP Photosmart C4400 series version 5.0.5 driver mentioned in the Printer and scanner drivers for Mac - Apple Support article could perhaps be worth a try. Software conflicts cannot be ruled out, so make sure that you have backup copies of all important files (documents, photos, et cetera) before testing anything.

I downloaded the driver as suggested. I still can’t get aligned but am able to bypass that function, can copy and print and can order a print job from my MacBook and the C-4480 goes into action, but the printout is not what I ordered, rather a single line of nothing intelligible. Thank you for trying to help. Greatly appreciated. All best wishes, Karen
