Erase profile

I was given a Mac but without the password/login details. Is there anyway I can set up a new profile deleting all the old profiles?

Create a new admin user and you can remove all the other users.

Not having the password will be problematic: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT202860 ; the previous owner should have supplied it to you or prepared the unit properly for resale or giving away.
