Blu-Ray Burning Software?

I plan to author Blu-rays and see no thread addressing this. Roxio Toast 20 Pro has many negative reviews regarding constant add pop-ups, non-operational features and slow burn times. BD Wizard doesn't have flexible menu creation and is, in spite of its price, very basic. I'm hoping for a better alternative. (I'm NOT looking to copy existing discs, but authoring my own.)

Bonus Question: any software recommendation for authoring 4K Blu-rays?

I'm on a maxed-out MacBook Pro 16, running Monterey 12.3.1

Any help here is GREATLY appreciated! Answer the bonus question and your response will be EXTRA GREATLY appreciated!! :D

You can actually do this directly in FCPX or Compressor, although the customization possibilities are limited.

Here's an interesting introductory about creating a DVD in FCPX: Do I Need Compressor for DVD from FCPX?

And a tutorial on creating a menu and burning a DVD in FCPX: How to Create a DVD Menu in Final Cut Pro

Also, from Apple:

As for third-party DVD Authoring apps, I too am searching for a decent solution compatible with Catalina or Monterey. (Although I could still use iDVD on my old 24" iMac that I preserved on Snow Leopard for such purposes!)

Sorry but I am the bringer of bad news!

You may have some difficulty as Apple considered DVD and BD to be obsolete a decade ago and stopped providing burning equipment in their Macs.

Whilst some people do still use DVDs their numbers are dwindling.

The obvious question is, why do you want to put your videos on discs (which can be unreliable) when most people find it much easier and better and FREE to produce .mp4s that will play on every TV made in the last 5 years, projectors, computers, tablets and phones?

If you are still adamant that you want your creations preserved on disc, you may be lucky and find someone with positive suggestions.

The problem is that as DVD and BD players finally become extinct in a few years your films will be unplayable in the same way as old VHS tapes.

As Don Marquis wrote in The Song of Mehitabel ... "there's a dance in the old dame yet!"

There are users, like me, who have preferences for tangible media.

There are also users (like some of my not-so-elderly relatives) who are, to put it gently, "technology challenged" ... but they are still able to insert a VHS tape, a CD, a DVD or a Blu-Ray into their players and enjoy some entertainment.

I do not expect DVD and BD players to become extinct any time in the forseeable future. And if they do there will always be a marketplace for vintage equipment.

Your first sentence would appear to be what the OP doesn't want to hear.

He apparently wants a highly customisable menu similar to iDVD but with the ability to burn to BD or even 4K.

I don't know whether such a beast exists and there certainly wouldn't be much demand for one.

I possess two S-VHS VCRs, not because I like them (they are cumbersome monstrosities) but on the off-chance that some day I might need to copy an old tape. They reside out of harm's way in the attic.

I call mine the Museum of VandA.

It ranges from film splicing to current stuff/junk.

You never know when some of that gear will be required.

As you age there is the "I've forgotton more than I know" factor creeping in. 🤓👍

Regards Bluray Authoring, very limited software that I know of.

FCP X is as good as any I've followed up on.

In Oz, DVD and Bluray are fading away even though I'm working on a DVD as I type.
