iCloud bug that deletes iMessages

My iPhone updated to the latest software. I have had my iPhone set up to backup to my iCloud. Including my iMessages. Apple acknowledged a known bug that has deleted my iMessages conversations for several of my close contacts. I have a backup synced to the cloud and have been instructed to restore to that backup. But since the messages are stored and backed up to Apple’s server they do not come back up.

I have paid $60 a year for this very situation. I have my phone set up the correct way. I have it synced and backed up. But I am still left without my data. Apple had zero empathy and did not offer a solution. I can’t be the only one in this situation. Is anyone else experiencing this ‘bug’ and lack of care?
