Calendar Alert Sound Not Changing - iPhone 13, iOS 15.5

I have been an Apple user for more than 30 years! But by now I almost DISAPPROVE their hardware and software including iOS!

THE SOLUTION personally verified with iOS15.7.1 is unfortunately proceeding with

General>Reset>Reset All Settings (this will erase all notifications settings and let it work the change of Calendar Alert sound).

Pietro3-D actually found a solution. It's more of a workaround and it comes with a lot of work, but if it bothers you enough, you can just reset ALL the settings at: General>Reset>Reset All Settings.

Just note, that it will actually delete all your settings... including your Wallet Credit cards and so on...

For their own reason/s Apple cannot seem to fix this issue.

My solution … Download Calendars 5 and share it with iPhone calendar. Send Calendars 5 into the library with one of their alert sounds (not many good options) enabled. Disable Calendar alert notifications (all).

Why Apple will not do anything is a mystery

Thank you for reaching out in Apple Support Communities. Excellent job with the steps that were performed. There's an alternative route to change the sound of the calendar alerts. Let's see if that helps.

Go to Settings > Sounds & Haptics > Calendar Alerts. Select the alert tone you'd like and test to see if that helps.

My read is that IOS 15 removed a setting that allowed a different sound for Upcoming Events.

If you had set a different sound for Upcoming Events prior to IOS 15, that setting can't be changed.

From what I can see, the only solution is a complete Reset. That will clear all the sound settings and then the Sound Haptics settings will work.

Same problem as rheaak above. It doesn’t matter what sound or haptic I choose for my calendar alert on my iPhone version 15.5, it won’t use it. It defaults to original sound. Please fix. Shutting off or rebooting iPhone doesn’t fix this problem.

Can’t change calendar alert tone or what’s worse I can’t turn it off.

Here’s the thing, last month when I got my new 14 pro max the calendar alert functioned perfectly. It wasn’t until I loaded my data & apps from the cloud that it malfunctioned. My old phone suffered from the same issue so after I wiped my old phone in preparation for returning I checked the calendar alert and it was working fine. So obviously there’s a conflict causing the issue. But I’m not willing to manually input all of my contact information and other data after wiping my new phone in order to find the problem. Apple needs to track down the problem and rectify it. I’ve tried third party calendar apps that allow me to select alert tones but they’re a hassle to use, clumsy & overly complex. Please fix it so I can again use the native calendar app.

I’m having the exact same issue. I keep missing appointments since I’ve got the my iPhone 13 15.5. How can I fix this issue??

I too have the same issue iPhone 12 mini running 15.4.1. I too have tried turning phone off/on after clearing the notification and haptics. Seems there is radio silence on a solution to this issue based on other comments.

I had the same frustrating issue with my iPhone 12 Pro Max ios 15.

so I got a new 14 pro max and guess what, I have no control over the calendar alert tone whatsoever. If I’m lucky and it makes any alert noise it’s a pathetic weak tri tone I can’t even find in the alert & ringtone list!

I’m in my 60s now and have doctors appointments, legal appointments and many other important meetings and my new $1400.00 iPhone is useless in reminding me of them.

Same here! Much more anoying is the fact, that i cannot turn the sound/vibration off at all. I disable sound (both in the settings for haptic and sound and the settings for notifications) and it still makes the tone or vibration…

I am having same problem as the previous people, the alert sounds system is not working properly on my iphone 11, it will not change from the default although it shows a tick against a new chosen sound.

WHERE ARE YOU APPLE, YOU HAVE GIVEN US A LOAD OF WAFFLE HOW TO CHANGE IT AND WE ARE TELLING YOU IT DOES NOT CHANGE IT!

Same problem here, and growing really tired of Apple's wild-goose-chase trouble-shooting that leads nowhere. There are so many issues with their products now that I have decided I will never buy an Apple product again. I am an extremely ****** off, life-long Apple user. An iPhone, for the exorbitant price they charge, should be highly customizable. Not be stuck with a crappy, stock Notification sound you can barely hear and text message sounds that are drastically quieter than any other sounds. I don't know what these Apple engineers have going through their F*ng minds these days.

Anyway, I'm done. Looking for other options.

Yeah, its super weird that they don’t fix this. I mean, third party apps will only play the stock “tri tone” and apple’s native calendar app doesn’t even play that!

Same issue here. The calendar reminder is set on “Ascending,” and no matter what I do to change it, it does that stupid xylophone sound. Yesterday it did it while I was on a client call, it’s so embarrassing. I don’t know how Apple allows things as simple as an alert to fail as the software is “upgraded.”
