"show hidden photo album" option is not available on macbook pro

Under the View option of Photos app on 100% fully updated macbook pro, the option to "Show Hidden Photo Album" is grayed out/cannot choose it. So the instruction link posted here does not apply. I also accidentally hid a few photos while trying to delete them from my macbook and instead they went to the Hidden Photo Album. How can this album be accessed when the option to turn it on cannot be used?

MacBook Pro 15″, macOS 12.4

Hi there xengen,

If you are unable to select the ‘Show Hidden Photo Album’ option, are you able to create a Smart Album of photos that are hidden using the ‘Create a Smart Album’ section here? Create Smart Albums to group photos automatically in Photos on Mac

Also, are you using iCloud Photos to sync these photos with any other device? If so, are you able to view hidden photos on another device without issue?

Hide photos on your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, or Mac

Cheers!

According to Apple Support, on Mac OS if there is nothing in the hidden photo album it will not show in the album list. And yes, this is different than iOS but it took a call to Apple Support to find this out. Still a problem with the grayed out option when not in full screen however. This does not occur on iOS devices! Apple Support did not provide an explanation of why the "grayed out" menu option is then available in full screen. Am hoping they will look into it further.

Yes, to creating a smart album, but if you don't know what photos are hidden, kind of difficult to put them in the smart album. Yes, using iCloud to synch across four Apple devices (Mac, iphone and two iPads). I can view the hidden album on both iPads and iphone but couldn't on the mac. All devices using same Apple ID, same network, all same settings. After revealing the hidden album photo on iphone first, followed by iPads, I was able to delete the items accidentally added to the hidden album using my iphone. Today when I booted the Macbook and checked Photos, the "Show Hidden Photo Album" is still grayed out EXCEPT when in full screen mode on Photos. When in full screen mode, I have the option to "Hide Hidden Photo Album" but there is no Hidden Photo Album showing (to hide) when this option is available. Seems like this is an iCloud synchronization issue due to the fact that all ios 15.5 devices function as expected, whereas the MacOS 12.4 version does not function correctly.

iOS has nothing to do with Mac. iOs is an entirely different operating system. What works on one does not necessarily work on the other.

What happened when you hid a photo from within Photos for Mac, as I suggested in my previous post?

In any event it will be interesting to see what Apple Support says, if you would post back.
