Apple screen froze after clicking Apple ID reset option.

I followed the instructions to try to reset my forgotten password using Apple ID but as the login screen switches to the next screen, my Macbook screen froze. It's just showing the black screen with Apple icon in the center.

I then received a screen stating that I needed to reset my password. The screen then gave me the option to change my password, enter apple id information to log in. I did these several times, but the screen was frozen. I finally restarted the computer after turning it off and on multiple times and I reached my normal screen log in. Does anyone know what caused this problem? I am not scared to shut my computer off in case the same thing happens again. Please help...

Stuck on Reset Password screen I entered the wrong password in my MacBook and noticed it was frozen so I shut it off and turned it back on when it booted back up it was on the reset password screen in recovery assistant . A while back my trackpad stopped working so I changed the settings of my Mac to work without it (tap to click, multi finger to drag, etc) so maybe that’s where the problem lies but I cannot get anything on this screen to work. It’s like it’s frozen I can’t click any of the options or exit it. How do I leave this screen
