Voice memo playback has no sound

I recorded an event but there is only sound at the first few minutes. Then, it is completely silent for the entire length of the recording (over an hour). The voice memos before and after it did not experience this problem. It is an important recording and time sensitive. Is there anyway to recover the sound? I have not had this happen to me in the past. I have tried to play it on two different iPhones and an iPad associated with my account … still no sound. Please HELP!

Welcome to Apple Support Communities. You've tried some great steps so to troubleshoot and isolate this voice memos issue.


Since this happens with multiple devices and other voice memos are not impacted, the issue is isolated to this particular voice memo. You can try sending it to someone else and see if they experience the same thing just to make sure it is not account related. If it does not play for them, it seems there was no audio recorded in this voice memo. To make sure that doesn't happen again in the future, you can try the steps from If the microphones on your iPhone aren't working.
