Macbook 2017 Pro Fan won't stop running

Hello,

A few days ago, I spilled some water on my mackbook. I quickly cleaned it off, and it seemed to be working fine. I continued working and put it in my laptop, without turning it off.

When I got home, I noticed the fan was running at high speed. I opened it and saw a small amount of water that had gotten into it, I am not sure how. Maybe it went inside the vent and then came back out. I turned the laptop off and didnt turn it back on until the next day.

The next day, I turned it on and the fan was still running at max speed. Everything is working fine, it doesn't seem to be any slower. Activity Monitor and top do not mention that any process is using much of CPU %. I am not high on storage. I used apps such as TG Pro, determines that fan and sensors are working properly. Sensors are not reporting high temperature. TGPro and SMC fan control both report that fan is at 0 RPM (it is not, it is at a very high RPM). When I run Apple Diagnostic, I get PPF004 / PPF003 There may be an issue with the fan. I opened the bottom, there is not dust or any visible damage (I did not take anything apart, just opened the bottom and looked.)

I need my CPU for work, so I can not afford to have long times to leave it for diagnostic. It seems to be working fine, and I can still use it for work, despite fan being at max speed. So, I am trying to figure out a diagnostic maybe new fan? repair logic board? fan connector? To be able to minimize time spent not working while it is being repaired. Does anyone have suggestion?

MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 12.4

You will not know unless you take it in..

Hard to speculate on water damage from a distance.

Take it in or not your choice. Liquid damage tends to get worse over time not better.
