Each person, regardless of age, needs her/his own, unique Apple ID. Under your present setup, it appears you’re trying to FaceTime to yourself.

Then, for each device a child uses:

Then have the children “move in” using their Apple ID.

To confirm, your kids are using your iPhone and you'd like them to reach you on your iPad via FaceTime? Is that correct?

Go to Settings > Messages > Send & Receive is your Apple ID and phone number checked there? Check on both devices.
