Why can't I record an Instagram story with my iPad?

Lol what's this? Uhh these complaints wouldn't even arise if instagram never existed for iPads. I get the point that the instagram app is not really optimized for iPads and it only exists with full compatibility on iPhones. But it is still downloadable and can be used like normal on iPads only having an iPhone-like interface as the main difference.

I'm still having this problem and it really sucks. If Apple cannot resolve this, to whom do we reach out? To Meta (?) the company who owns instagram or.... I just want this issue to be addressed and gain more attention esp to those who can really do a thing about it.

It's really frustrating. I have also tried to reach out for any live support from IG but I guess they just don't have that. I hope Apple would notice this problem too not only IG and whoever is responsible to this. I do suggest that we make more noise about this bec there's a high chance that we're not the only ones experiencing this!!

Agreed. I also want us to be as loud as possible because many might want to speak up but don’t know how to. I actually had been searching for hours before finding this conversation and had to voice out my complaints too.

Huh? Ive been using instagram on ipad for as long as i can remember.. as an artist i had to. The updates were up to date and everything, sometimes id get new features before my phone app did. What we’re complaining about here is that it suddenly stopped being able to record boomerangs and videos one-two weeks ago for no reason. Plus theres some graphic errors in the story posting environment.

A company such as huge as meta should fix this, but maybe its Apple’s problem? The app was working perfectly up until now.

Well many times the Apple forum is filled with lots of people who know quick fixes outside the normal triage and why we come here for many reasons. I think the credibility was questioned when it was said there is not an iPad insta app which there is whether it is optimized or not and was working just fine until a week or so ago. I have plenty of stupid filter video to prove it. 🤣 Not sure if it was along side the last OS upgrade but I am assuming it is and will try when the new one is released. I guess Tik Tok it is for now😟

Why you sounding so angry, nobody said it’s up to apple to fix the problem. Chill out, I spoke on the conversation here because I was going through the same issues as others who complained. As I said, I reported to IG and they haven’t gotten back to me. I never said “Apple should fix this problem “. Read to understand.

Well actually you told them there was not an Instagram iPad app to support which there is. Sometimes it’s not the message but how a message is conveyed. Anyway, glad Insta replied and this group could bring attention to this detail for others as they search for all my Apple friends!

There was an iPad app, Ohhhh sooo long ago, back in the day. I had it on my Mini. It was a separate downloaded app called instagram for iPad. If I did not give it away I still have it! But it would not prob work with all the newness. Currently Insta will not do a “native” app since the IPad changed it’s purpose and is now considered the same as your computer. You are there to use it to browse not take pics and create so they ( or whomever made the iPad version. I don’t remember anymore) ceased and and things moved forward it was just the one that was working and now has caused this thread with cap yelling and til last week, was working. So some people came here to seek help. That’s my history lesson to all and would have maybe cleared up confusion about the whole app.

There are certainly Apple historians who will certify. I remember as I was working on a project back in 2014 when a little new payment system was starting in Apple and Disney was working toward full adoption. Suddenly iPads were given for product testing cross platforms etc… long story short, I first downloaded the app on the mini 4 if I remember the model correctly and it was not launching and my Apple liaison told me to make sure I did the IPad version. Not the iPhone. I didn’t notice there were two til that moment. Needless to say, it now launched just fine. Again it was the same logo but not sure if it was vía insta or a 3rd party and okd by them. Based on Adam, they killed it so prob a Kahoots with a 3rd party.

Anyway, lots of things we both know and lots of things we don’t know. Power does not come from ability to delete posts but from knowledge and being able to communicate with others. You never know who you may need to lean on for help. I always say if you come out in a blazing trail of fire, you’re gonna burn yourself when you stop and listen. Peace

me too its been weeks and its still not working i tried uninstalling and installing and it still didn’t work i tried fixing it in the instagram settings or the ipad settings and it still didn’t work, and i can’t take anymore pictures too, when i press story it automatically just shows up the gallery it doesn’t let me take pics vids reels anymore, i hope apple fixs this

I haven’t been able to record reels or any videos through the Instagram app for many months now. I tried reinstalling many times and I filed a complaint through Instagram with no response. I have this problem on both my iPad min and iPad Pro.

As a content creator this is a serious problem, especially when you spend extra money on Apple’s best technology that’s available.

Thank you because I only posted on here to let others know I’m having the same frustration. It was about joining other humans and validating their frustration. Our frustrations in general. I understand maybe it’s not Apple. I am a crazy Apple owner and I love the brand, but nothing is perfect.

I understand maybe your tone sounds this way because you reply to a lot of people sharing the same information over and over. This is probably frustrating for you, to repeat yourself. To resort to being blunt and factual, but honey we are complex sloppy humans. Sometimes all we want is validation.

I can’t record Instagram story videos on my iPad. Worked fine until I installed the new Instagram version. I see others are having the same problem. Is anyone going to fix this? Anyone have any updates on this issue? Thanks

hello, well it works for me now. I could record just fine, and could also go live if i wanted to. I'm probably in the minority where it’s fixed, though. It started working again around a week ago when for months I couldn’t record at all.
