Why can't I record an Instagram story with my iPad?

hi. i tried to record videos using instagram story camera but it didnt work. i tried to remove then re-install the instagram and first few seconds, it worked but after i quit the instagram app and tried recording again, it didnt work. does this have to do with viruses or else? the day before, i was browsing on safari and this one website kept opening another random websites whenever i clicked on anywhere on the page. there was also a tab about warning about virus but i wasnt sure what to do so i just closed all the tabs.

Your iPad, unless jailbroken, cannot get any viruses.

Be careful, ignore those scam attempts and read this support article:--> Recognize and avoid phishing messages, phony support calls, and other scams - Apple Support

As far as Instagram Story Camera is concerned, no native Instagram app has ever existed for iPads (only web version, or the iPhone app). For any further questions about instagram, please contact their support/developer team and ask them.

You saying this just goes to show you have absolutely no idea what we are talking about. So you just feel everyone under this conversation who is complaining about the IG app on the iPad is lost? The app is clearly on iPad and was working just fine a week ago, now it doesn’t allow you to create videos, reels or live stream. That’s the issue. Get an iPad and download Instagram so you can correct your previous statement about “No Instagram app for iPad”.

Agreed. I also want us to be as loud as possible because many might want to speak up but don’t know how to. I actually had been searching for hours before finding this conversation and had to voice out my complaints too.

Be as loud as you wish. As long as you understand nothing you are loud about on this forum will get Apple's or Instagrams attention. This is a user to user only forum. Apple doesn't actively participate here. But even if they did, they can't do anything with Instagram code in their iPhone ONLY app to effect any change to make it compatible with iPad. Direct your angst to the only entity which can effect change here and that is 100% on Instagram.

Yes it is all iPads but just recording as of now. Pics still work on mine too! I received a reply listed above. You are not alone! Hopefully the photo function will not go away but who knows how far Instagram is moving away from iPad functionality and as listed above, the native app is only supportive of iPhones even though many features work fine on ipad… until last week 😢

Apple cannot fix this. Apple doesn't own Instagram. You need to take your grievance to Instagram directly.

Just a guess as to why people might not understand... My iPad Pro and iPhone are both running IOS 15.6. I am looking at the Instagram App listing on my iPad Pro this very moment. Under the heading INFORMATION, subheading Compatibility, are these four words... "Works on this iPad." It is not working properly. If I click the the "Report A Problem" link, it brings me to ... Apple. I have used both devices to record since I joined Instagram. There is a Reels button, there is the record button. The record button just doesn't work. So, bottom line... I have two devices. Both have IOS 15.6. Both have Instagram 245.0. Both devices are listed as compatible with the Instagram app. Thus, one would think it would work. Not being a App developer, I am not able to determine where the problem comes in Apple vs IG. It is either compatible or it's not compatible. It would behoove the keepers to include the caveat... "Not all features are available on tablets" if not all features are available on tablets.
