Macbook Pro won't share Disney+ video. It will share audio. Just not video. Any tips?

There's no Disney+ App avail to download for Monterey.

I can sign in from my Macbook Pro and share to someone else's TV but there's no video. The audio shares fine. Just no video.

My iphone 8, however, shares both vid & audio fine.

I've done a lot of research. All I see are articles advising me to install the Disney+ app but there is no Disney+ app for Macbook Pro.

I've tried a bunch of different things but can't get the video to come up. My Macbook itself turns the Disney+ screen black while playing but if I put my cursor on the video play timeline I can see the video perfectly in a small preview square on the timeline.

Not understanding how an older iphone 8 works fine but noit my newer Macbook Pro.

Assuming it's user error.

Any helpful, easy tips?

Much appreciated!

Hi Hwood96,

Certain smart TVs aren't compatible with AirPlay you can check the list here for your model: iOS - Home Accessories

We'd also recommend the steps quoted below, from the article here: If screen mirroring or streaming isn't working on your AirPlay-compatible device

"Try these steps first

After each step, see if you still need help.

  1. Make sure that your AirPlay-compatible devices are turned on and near each other.
  2. Check that the devices are updated to the latest software and are on the same Wi-Fi network.
  3. Restart the devices that you want to use with AirPlay or screen mirroring.

If you're prompted to enter a password, you might have restrictions turned on, or you might need to adjust your AirPlay password settings."

Additionally, the Disney+ website states the cast should be from a mobile device using the Disney+ app: How do I Cast or Airplay Disney+ to my TV?

Thanks! I know there's no app available. I'm trying to find out if it's a simple Tech error of some sort on my end.

My old iphone can share Disney+ to a TV with no problem at all. My newer Macbook, however, will share audio and connect to the TV but the video portion won't play. It's just all black. Audio streams from the Macbook to their Tv with no issues. It's only the video that won't play.

Same with all video shared from my Macbook to their Smart Tv (Samsung) whether it's Disney+ or Youtube. My iphone can send both audio/video to their Tv with no problem. And their Macs can send video to the Tv. Just not mine for some reason leaving me to believe it's a setting on my end.

Thanks again for your answer. I hope that clarifies my problem a bit.
