Pages 11.2

Is there a straightforward guide to Pages v.11? I am pulling my hair out, trying to reproduce documents I had easily done in Pages09. My latest headache is trying to alternate numbering on odd and even pages. I cannot find any way of making this happen. It seems there may have been a solution at one time, but if so, it must now be in a different place, and official support has no mention of this function. I would appreciate any advice--or any alternative word processing programs as easy to use as the old Page. Heck, at this point, I'll take Claris.
