Touch ID suddenly does not work on iPhone 7 Plus

About a week ago, my Touch ID stopped working. I reset it twice by "forgetting"/deleting the Finger 1 and resetting it. It works once or twice then stops working. Any suggestions? This is getting old, putting in the 6 digits every time I need to use my phone!
