Can’t edit on my word app with new iPad Pro
Microsoft Word for iPad can be downloaded for free from the Apple App Store - however, you will require an active Microsoft 365 subscription to create or edit documents.

Indeed - you can import and edit in Apple Pages, but you may lose some document formatting. Using the MS Word App will preserve the original document.
I found out I can edit my document in pages.
