Airport Express as Repeater/Range Extender

I am planning to buy an Airport Express for use as a Wifi Repeater. Basically I want my existing wifi signal extended to my living room. I have an ADSL+Wifi router (made by Teracom - Indian Company) with WPA security enabled. I wish to place the Airport Express near my HTPC connected to my TV and Yamaha Receiver so that I can surf/download using my existing internet connection and also stream my tunes to the receiver in the living room.

Is it possible to use Airport Express the way I want it to work?

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.6.4)

They are both less then a year old, the are the latest models. I'd have to verify when I get home from work but I'm pretty confident they ard both n. .
