Syncing two Macs from iCloud storage.

I recently subscribed to iCloud to backup the data on my new Air, which was a clone of my old Pro. I included the "Desktop and Documents folders". I'd like to sync the two computers (now that the older one is fixed) but am afraid to turn on "Desktop and Documents folders" because I want the sync to twin all of the newer files from my Air, and not the other way around. Will this safely save/update the newer files?

Hello UMCO ,

Thank you for reaching out to Apple Support Communities.

You can turn it on for both and select merge.

"Turn on Desktop and Documents

Turn on Desktop and Documents on every Mac that you want to use with iCloud Drive.

  1. From your Mac, choose Apple menu  > System Preferences. Click Apple ID, then click iCloud. In macOS Mojave or earlier, choose Apple menu  > System Preferences, then click iCloud.
  2. Make sure that iCloud Drive is turned on.
  3. Next to iCloud Drive, click Options.
  4. Choose Desktop & Documents Folders.
  5. Click Done."

More details can be found here: Add your Desktop and Documents files to iCloud Drive

Good Luck!
