Siri does not execute "run shortcut"

Hi, I have a simple shortcut, that starts with an "show alert" followed by an action "run shortcut" to execute a second shortcut.

As long as I run this shortcut on my iPhone from the shortcut menu it works perfectly. I get the alert message and then the second shortcut is started.

As soon as I ask Siri to run the shortcut, I just get the alert message and then nothing else happens.

Hi Alancito, thanks for the quick reply.

I got further and found out, that the problem is not that Siri can't call the second shortcut.

The problem really is inside the second shortcut, which executes different wether I just run it or have Siri running it.

By adding more alert messages I came to the point - in this second shortcut - where I define a dictionary followed by choose from dictionary.

When I execute the shortcut from the shortcuts menu, then a list of items is displayed and I can choose one item and act accordingly.

When Siri executes the shortcut, the display of the list of items is missing.

I can see that the "choose from dictionary" action has on option "prompt" that shows "optional" at this point in time. What value do I have to use, to enforce a prompt?

„I don't think Siri can read out a Dictionary“. That information was new to me .

My assumption was that there is no difference between executing a shortcut manually or by Siri.

For me Siri is just the trigger to „start“ the shortcut and from then on everything you see on the iPhone is the same, wether you execute a shortcut manually or by Siri. Obviously this is not the case.

Let me quickly explain, what I do with this shortcut.

It displays a list of all my roller shutters and based on the selection variable „trigger“ I build an http command that triggers my homematic script and opens or closes the selected shutter.

Well, I suppose with two columns in a Dictionary, there would be just too much for Siri to say. In a Menu, there's only one column — so Siri can reasonably speak the choices.

Anyway, consider asking for help on this Shortcuts sub-Reddit — it has many more Shortcuts experts than here on ASC. If you find a solution there, I'd be interested in seeing a screenshot of it.
