How can I start a 2021 MacBook Pro in Safe Mode?

The official support article says to press and hold the power button to start a newer Mac in Safe Mode. Our new MacBook Pro has no power button. How can I start it in Safe Mode?

Meanwhile I figured out the the fingerprint sensor is also a power button. It would be nice if they would put an appropriate symbol on it ;-}

@ku4hx, It turns itself on automagically when I open it ;-)

Yes, I realize that. But many of us shut down our Macs with the lid open. My 2016 MBP is our streaming computer and the lid is never closed as our travel MBP is wife's 2020 MBP. I prefer not to "work" the screen cable any more than is absolutely on that old a machine.
