JPG photos turning into HEIC on my laptop. How do I disable this conversion on my computer? I turned it off on my phone. Thanks.

You can create a jpeg version simply by exporting the image as a jpeg:

File -> Export and set the Kind to Jpeg in the resulting dialogue.

These are exactly the same thing. Click on the filename in the Finder and you'll be able to overwrite jpeg to jpg. Done.

Then contact the folks who are making your online course. They have set their restrictions to the point of stupid.

You should re-read all I wrote. There's no need to convert heif to jpeg in Photos. And then: If you require a Jpeg for some reason, ...export that one.

Thank you for response. What I said of the camera using "heic" format holds true. I can not use that for all practical purposes in normal daily use. My venture for information started because first, something changed and i couldn't transfer my iPhone picture to my pc, i tried icloud, itunes and just plain file transfer and none of these worked or let me make the transfer. My I cloud is full and I want pictures off my phone. The one i need somehow i got but in heic format not recognized by everyday software.

By pc do you mean a Windows box? This forum is for folks using Apple's Photos for Mac application. I suggest you post in a forum for Windows users. .

jpg files are not converted to HEIC on transfer - it can only go the other way (HEIC to jpg), so I am not sure what you are seeing.

I tried that 10 times still does not change on the Iphone Pro-Max 13

results in a jpeg file that is HUGE. Unable to open or download them to a photo printing site because the file is too large

What size is the heic? And the resulting Jpeg?
