Mac mail attachments (excel or preview)

Some setting has changed, when I go to share a excel sheet or preview document, I do what I normally do go to file, share, send workbook, usually it populates a blank email in Mac mail with the attachment in the body of the email, now I just get a little beep and no email. Any ideas?
