Highlight the text (if it has already been input) and the type Command + B and that will make it bold. If it is new text such as a reply to this post you can click the same command as above or in this dialogue box there is a bold icon in the lower left of the input window.
FWIW, you cannot make the fonts bold "universally". You can of course change the resolution to something more easily read. You can also look here: Get started with accessibility features on Mac - Apple Support
