iphone 13 cannot connect to 5G wifi

my iphone 13 always converts to the LTE when connecting to our in house 5G wifi. My wife's iphone 13 can connect to 5G as can our laptops. I replaced my iphone 13 with a new model (thanks to Verizon) and the same issue persists. It must be a setting issue. Does anybody know the trick to connecting to 5G wifi?
