Low batter mode

I have a gps tracking app that records my route on multiple hour bicycle rides. Is low battery mode a means to extend battery life in this situation so I don’t run out of battery while riding?

It depends on the app and its requirements but your best bet is to try it for a short run.

Use Low Power Mode to save battery life on your iPhone or iPad – Apple Support (UK)

Do not mount the phone on your handlebars if you wish to avoid camera damage.
