Pop account wont connect big sur

My email has been returning "unabe to verify account" overnight. Shut down, login the day after and voila.

I have been trying trial and error everything I can find on google and cannot don't understand why I have this problem.

This problem suddenly popped out of nowhere.

Nothing wrong with my password, nothing wrong with webmail access, nothing wrong with keychain. Just won't accept my password through Mac-mail.

Deleted one Pop account. Wont allow me to create another one.

Created an Imap one, for the same account. Works, but not in pop. Useless to me.

Created a new Pop account. Wont accept the PW.

Use the - replace PW then clic Tab, no change.

Tried all of what google solutions and are here offered, no change.

Five days wasted searching for an answer.

Updated Mail for big sur 2 days ago, no change.

Screamed loud, very loud, no change.

Any thoughts?

I have 5 pop accounts hibernating suddenly and really dislike Imap ones.

Thanks

Mac mini, macOS 11.6

Signing in with an Apple device

If you've just downloaded the most recent version of the Google Authenticator app, see this article.

If you're having trouble signing in to your Google Account with an Apple device, select one of the options below to start troubleshooting your issue.

Do you have 2-Step Verification on your Google Account?Yes

How are you trying to access your Google Account?Mail app on my Mac computer

Which of these options best describes your situation? The mail app on my Mac computer gives me an "Incorrect Password" error after I add 2-Step Verification to my Google Account.

Step 1: Create an App Password for the mail app on your Mac computer

An App Password allows 2-Step Verification users to access their account from apps or devices that do not support verification codes.

Note: If you have OSX 10.10.3 on your computer, you will no longer have to use App passwords to use 2-Step Verification.

To create an App Password:

  1. Visit your App passwords page. You may be asked to sign in to your Google Account.
  2. At the bottom, click Select app and choose "Mail".
  3. Click Select device and choose "Mac".
  4. Click Generate.
  5. Follow the instructions to enter the App password (the 16 character code in the yellow bar) on your device.
  6. Click Done.

Once you click done, you’ll won’t see that App Password code again. Don't worry, you only use each password once. You can always generate a new App Password whenever you’re asked for one--even for a device or application you’ve authorized before.

Step 2: Replace the password in the mail app in your Mac computer

If you get a window indicating that Mail can't connect to your Google Account when you open the Mail app on your Mac, enter the password you generated in the previous step in the password field

-ERR [AUTH] Username and password not accepted.

Then:

Remove 2 Factor Authorisation

Enable Less Secure Apps

Deleted and Added back the Account

Set up the account as IMAP

Cleared Captcha.

IMAP works fine, not POP
