Issues with automations in the Apple Home app.

I’ve setup a simple automation in the Apple Home app. When a motion sensor is triggered it will turn on a light. And after one minute it will turn of the light. This works fine. But, whenever the automation is triggered and finished there is a delay between the first time and the second and other times the automation will work. The motion sensor does work fine and sees the motion. But somehow the automation does not run immediately. After a short while (can’t figure out how long) it does work again and the automation is triggered.

Why is this delay happening?

How long is it?

is there a way around it?

I tried to change the automation to a shortcut but that had the same issue. Furthermore I really don’t want to use shortcuts for this because it is linked to my device (iPhone/iPad.

Can anyone help me?

Hey there HenkRoos,

If you're having problems with a specific automation, you may need to delete it and set it up again. Following Create scenes and automations with the Home app

"Turn off or delete an automation

To enable or disable an automation:

  1. Open the Home app on your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, or Mac and go to the Automation tab.
  2. Tap or click the automation.
  3. Turn Enable This Automation on or off.

Tap or click Turn Off to choose an amount of time to turn off accessories in an automation. For example, if you create an automation that turns on the lights when you arrive home, you can have the lights turn off after an hour.

To delete an automation, tap or click the automation, then scroll to the bottom and tap or click Delete Automation. On your iOS or iPadOS device, you can also swipe left over the automation and tap Delete."
