Can’t access the notification or control centre

About once or twice a day my Apple Watch SE makes me unable to go to the notifications or control centre. The only way to fix it is to restart the device. I am able to change the clock face though. I have already tried restarting my device and unpairing and resetting up my Apple Watch. Those work but only for about 12 hours. If you can help thank you!

Apple Watch SE, watchOS 8

Hello IcedCoffee_Corgi_Queen,

You have already done some solid troubleshooting.

Keep in mind that notifications will go to your iPhone or your Apple Watch, but not both. Information on how this works can be found here: Notifications on your Apple Watch - Apple Support

If the notifications are not working as they should, be sure watchOS is up to date. On the watch, tap on Settings > General > About. The current watchOS should be watchOS8.6. If needed, here is how to update: Update your Apple Watch - Apple Support

When the Apple Watch was paired back to the Apple Watch, was a backup restored? The reason we ask is that if whatever is causing the issue to occur was in that backup, restoring the backup may also restore the problem. You may want to unpair the Apple Watch, and then pair it back as a new Apple Watch. You can see how to set up as new here: Set up your Apple Watch - Apple Support. Be sure to set up as new when provided the choice.

Do you notice the issue happening after performing a particular action?

Trying to isolate the issue can help when trying to find a solution.

Have a good day.

IcedCoffee_Corgi_Queen,

Thank you for those details.

Can you show us your current notification settings? This page may help:

Change notification settings on Apple Watch

Can you clarify if this happens after setting up your watch as new? What is your exact watchOS version? Also, how much available storage do you have on your Apple Watch?

Cheers!
