I’ve tried the recommended press up volume/down volume press and hold Home button until Apple logo appears. Good to that point. No action on frozen iMessages.
Tried turning the message button to off in Settings and pressing the iPhone Home button no result.
Tried swiping up on iMessage while pressing the IPhone Home button (recommended somewhere on Google), managed to turn off my phone. Any other thoughts, please.

This sometimes happens to me I just close the app (fully) then open it .I don't really know if it will help since TheLittles sent a reply that might work but hopefully this helps!
