Final Draft 12 (and earlier versions) often give a "Can't save. You don't have permissions" message.

Why is this? I go ahead and change the permissions and it just doesn't matter -- I still get the "can't save" message. I can save it as a different file name but inevitably the message comes back. Anyone have any solutions? It is NOT an Apple problem, but Final Draft support will always say it's a system problem and not a Final Draft software problem.

Hi there Thomas Burka,

If you're unable to save files from Final Draft on your Mac, you'll want to start by making sure you've allowed the app to access files and folders on your Mac: Control access to files and folders on Mac

Next, are you an administrator on your Mac? Are you following the steps in the link below to change your permissions? Change permissions for files, folders, or disks on Mac

Let us know what you find, and we'll take a closer look.

Cheers.
