When will the mouse clicking issue be resolved. I recently purchased a new iMac with a Monterey OS and the clicking, double clicking, pop up boxes are driving me crazy? Is there any intent by Apple to correct the problems.

Apple Magic Mouse. You click the mouse and an unwanted box with options appear, not what was expected from the click. Then you have to click, double click, etc to get rid of the boxes and finally get a click that gets you to where you wanted to go
As already noted, you are doing a right click by clicking on the right side of the mouse.
If I remember correctly, you can deactivate this behavior in System Preferences->Mouse.
I don't have a mouse on my mac, and haven't used one in years, but it should be pretty obvious. If you still need help, post a screenshot of what you see there.

Which mouse? The Apple Magic Mouse, or some other critter? Tried a different mouse?
FWIW, for a single click you need to press the left side of the mouse. To do a secondary click which brings up the pop-up menu, you press the right side.
