AppleCare+ for AirPods

I got my AirPod Generation 2’s about 3 days ago and have already lost them. I try to get the Apple Care+ for them to get a replacement but when i put in all of the details it says: It looks like your device isn't eligible for an Apple Care Agreement. Im wondering what the problem is?

There is no coverage for lost or stolen Headphones.

AppleCare plus has to be purchased before you damage the device or attempt to file a claim.
