Mac showing wrong date and time

My Mac is showing the wrong date & time even though I have chosen the right region, and selected "set date and time automatically". The time zone is also in the right region. I have not switched on my macbook in a while so I'm thinking this is why it is not showing the right time. Please help me solve this problem!

Hi, just another problem.

sudo sntp -sS time.apple.com

this worked but whenever I close my lid and open it again, it goes back to the old time (dec 2021).

I would have to key in the code again and again to go back to real time.

Is there any way I can change this permanently?
