MacBook Pro failed up upgrade to High Sierra from Sierra

My MacBook Pro won't upgrade to High Sierra from Sierra after two attempts. An error occurred while preparing the installation "Try running this application again'.

Due to my technical inexperience I didn't upgrade using safe mode as I don't understand all the steps provided in other posts.

Q's. Will I need to bin the two High Sierra files downloaded yesterday before attempting another upgrade?

Will I need to attempt using the safe mode steps provided in other posts? If so, please can someone suggest a post which may give easier instructions for the technically challenged :)

Keep this one " Installed macOS High Sierra - App Store Download 7.4 GB + macOS "

Trash the other one.

How to use safe mode on your Mac

Intel processor

  1. Turn on or restart your Mac, then immediately press and hold the Shift key as your Mac starts up.
  2. Release the key when you see the login window, then log in to your Mac.
  3. You might be asked to log in again. On either the first or second login window, you should see ”Safe Boot” in the upper-right corner of the window.

Then run the Install High Sierra

Dear P.Phillips. I see your link to Apple Support Communities ( ASC) but would appreciate your response, should you have time, to this question I posted earlier today..... it's not related to my original question which your response fixed :)

'Does my MacBook Pro have enough available space & RAM to install either Firefox or Goggle Chrome?'

After reading many Q&A's I’m unsure which browser to install so hopefully my 2012 MacBook Pro continues to perform at it’s best with what it has & doesn’t slow down too much :)

I need to install either Firefox or Google Chrome on MacBook Pro to use all parts of Ancestry on desktop. I’ll only be using the browser in default.

I feel the Firefox browser is the way to go & have done a safe backup to a seperate drive. The tech savvy grandkids are too busy to reassure me & I'm swanning around concerned what to do :)

Kind Regards
