Not getting notifications/ wrist detection off

I have tattoos and noticed my watch wasn’t ringing when I got a call or txt, so I turned off wrist detection and that solved the problem it’s been working just fine, but now I dont get notifications when I close my rings, I turned wrist detection back on and sure enough that was the problem now it tells me when I close a ring but doesnt show me notifications of phone calls and messages properly, is there a solution for this do I have to pick either or? Or do I have to return the watch once again because this is already a replacement from the first series 7 that I bought did they just come glitchy?
