iTunes Converting MP3 to Wav - Is it really a Wav file?
Hi, I have a large number of tunes in my wish list which I intend to buy. My question is, when iTunes converts the MP3 file to Wav is it really a Wav file? What I mean is that I know you can downgrade e.g. a 320kbps to 256kbps or 128kbps but as far as I'm aware you can't upgrade to a Wav file? All my music files are in Wav format i.e. not compressed and as the artist intended. Can somebody reassure me that if I buy what's in my wish list and convert to Wav they are legitimate Wav files. Thanks!
Just found this online (which is what I'm concerned about): If you take an MP3 of any kind and convert it to .wav, it will not get worse or better. The conversion will just add empty 1’s and 0’s to the file. It will still be a 192 Kbps file in terms of sound. You can’t put information back into a digital file that has already been removed.
