saving unfinished imovie projects in icloud - so i can continue editing the project after i have deleted it from imovie to save on storage

I have too many unfinished iMovie projects on the go - my iMovie storage is full on my Mac. Is it possible to store unfinished iMovie projects in iCloud (from Mac) to then retrieve them later and continue editing them? I am afraid to delete my unfinished movies from iMovie even if saved on iCloud or external hard drive, as I fear I won’t be able to continue editing them once re-loaded to iMovie sometime in future. Anyone been in similar situation or have alternative solution? Thanks!

Editable iMovie projects cannot be stored in the cloud. An iMovie project can only exist in an iMovie library. iMovie libraries cannot be stored in the cloud.

The best solution is to purchase an external drive, format it Mac OS Extended (Journaled) or APFS, and store your library on the external drive. If you reformat a drive, be aware that the reformatting process will erase all existing data on the drive. So back up anything that you want to keep.
