I want to use the iMac as monitor only. It currently does not stay logged in, and I get the gray screen when trying to boot up again. I would like to convert it to a monitor only (no OS) so that I can use it as a second monitor for my MacBook Pro 2020. Any ideas how best to do that?

mind you an imac use a lot more powe then a normal monitor even if just being used in terget display
With older Macs it used to be possible but is not possible with the newer Macs. Good monitors are not all that expensive.
It is a computer, not a monitor. Cant't be done.

There might be a way, but not easy. My brother did it with his old 2009 iMac. Might be best to just get another monitor.
