My MacBook screen is cracked

My screen cracked in the hinge area, no cover. All I did was open it, and got vertial lines and then the glass by the hinge area on the right hand-side popped out a 3/4 semicircle of glass (in sharp pieces). Seems like a design flaw, so how can I avoid this again? Costing me $578 to repair and this is the 2nd device with similar issue.

I would not buy a new Mac to day without factoring in the AppleCare+ expense...This has to be purchased within 60-days of new.

If you have AppleCare+ it will cover a large portion of accidental damage.

Unfortunately, some of us seem to have worse luck than others; you may be unaware you're straining the hinge.

If the device is out of warranty and you wish it repaired, you have to pay. If it's not coerce by a service program you have to pay.

I've been caught in the lemon squeeze too and I hated it, but there are limits to what Apple is willing to do and one should always be willing to go through an agonizing reappraisal on habits .. good or bad.
