What is a storage management app? You should use Disk Utility to manage both internal and external drives.

I agree with the comments posted here and would add that in my experience, using any storage management apps that came with external drives very often caused serious problems for some reason. Now before using a new external drive I reformat it using Disk utility and never have any problems.

The Operating System, in Catalina is enough to manage External Drives and does be better than any Third Party Software which often time creates more problems than it is worth.
