Was so shocked to find that my 2020 SE can’t pick up my new full fibre at the back of my house just because the new router is 2m nearer the front of my house than the old one.
My laptop can pick up my signal in the back garden!
Apple this is rubbish and I am so disappointed in you! And now the battery is dissipating really quickly since a recent software update…..that explains what started happening to my phone recently. Poor show indeed.

This is a user forum, you are not addressing apple here just fellow users
a laptop would have a bigger wifi antenna than a phone could fit
that being said one can't rule out you have a defective device
one path of troubleshoot would be to have a person with a similar device check if their device
would connect in the back of your yard
you can try contacting apple Support -> Get Support (apple.com)
and or give them feedback -> Product Feedback - Apple
