Preferences Error

Hi, I’m having connectivity issues where my wifi symbol (top right) has an exclamation point and does not give options except to open the Network Preferences. However, when I click on it I continuously receive a pop up stating “Preferences Error: There was an error in network preferences”. I have a midterm exam tomorrow morning (12 hours from now) and I’ve tried absolutely everything in other forums. It will not let me open up the wifi settings or go into the network settings at all. Please let me know if there is anything that has worked, I’m in desperate need. Thank you in advance.

You do not say is this Intel or M1 ...?

The current stable release of Monterey including bug fixes, is macOS 12.4 —I would start there. Ethernet is an option to connect to the Internet.
