My watch was previously paired with an old phone.

My watch was previously paired with an old phone. I reset the old phone and let my son use it. He set it up with a new Apple Id and it had no installed apps when I gave it to him. Now I can not pair my apple watch with my new phone. It says I am paired with another phone. How can I fix this?
