Skype microphone permission problem

Macbook Pro 13" 2020.

Since installing Monterey, Skype is no longer reading my microphone. It continues to say "Skype needs permission to use microphone" even though I have given it permission in system preferences> security & privacy> microphone. Skype is checked. I've rebooted Skype, I've rebooted the whole computer. It still says Skype needs permission.

Things have changed since about Catalina where Apple Introduced a Macintosh HD ( Read Only ) and a Macintosh HD-Data Volumes. The Read Only Volume was to protect the OS from the User ( you and I ) as well a Bad Actor Software from Modifying the OS.

Things were taken Up a Notch Further starting in Big Sur and again in Monterey where the Operating System is now in a Sealed and Read Only Volume . This too, is intended to further Harden the OS for much the same reasons as for Catalina. The Volume can only be Opened and or Modified by Apple.

That said, granting some Software Full Disk Access has become more common in specific cases like this one.
