"y" with accent

In the US-International keyboard layout, "y" can receive accent after hitting the dead key acute ('+y = ý). This works in PCs and, I believe, used to work in macs too. However, that is not the case anymore: "ÿ" can be typed, but "ý" cannot. Is there any reason for this, and could it be added?

I don't think the MacOS version of US International PC was ever able to make y acute. At least mine from a few years ago does not, only y umlaut. ABC Extended can make it. Or you could add this to a custom version of US International PC with Ukelele. Or make a text replacement in system preferences > keyboard > text > replace with.
