Always plug in old ipad.
I have a ipad 2nd generation with dead battery. Can I just allways pulg it into outlet mand have it function?
If you have a totally dead battery, the iPad may not start-up when connected to its Power Adapter. However, if your iPad will start-up when connected, the battery has just enough life for the iPad to operate when connected to external power.
