Strange color effect on Macbook Pro 2018 screen

Hi all,

since this afternoon, the screen on my Macbook Pro has strange, brownish spots along its right edge. Does anybody know what's causing this? Is it safe to continue using the machine?

Thanks and greetings,

Andreas

Looks like an LCD Panel issue, but it is hard to say for sure these days because of macOS and transparency settings. You can try connecting an external display and enable mirroring to see whether the issue affects both displays or just the built-in Display. If only the built-in Display is affected, then you will need to have the laptop repaired.

Hello Andreas or aschweiz77, yes it’s still safe to continue using this machine ( or Mac) , however it may need to be taken into your local AASP ( apple authorized servuce provider) ir make an appointment at your local genius bar at uour nearest apple store for evaluation and service… you could try holding down the “shift” key on startup to get into safe mode and see if the problem reoccurs.. you could akso try resetting smc/pmu and zapping pram 4 times on startup, as per this link; https://www.macworld.com/article/224955/how-to-reset-a-macs-nvram-pram-and-smc.html
